May 5 th + 6 th, 2012 Santa Cruz Clay Show  11am to 5pm at Bargetto Winery, 3535 Main St. Soquel CA .

Santa Cruz Clay is an event that re-invents itself every year with the mission of giving local potters and clay artists a venue to show and sell their work. This show began 8 years ago as a response to the ending of the Celebrate Santa Cruz show in downtown leaving an opening for something new in the area to take it’s place. Patterned loosely after the Association of Clay and Glass show in Palo Alto, this show self selects artists working in one media and thus focuses the audience to those who have a passion to see and buy great clay work.

Our show is self promoted, with participants taking on different jobs to make the event happen. We try to achieve a balance of functional and sculptural work and each year the rooster of artists changes just a bit. There is also an effort to include one or two emerging artists in the field of clay from this area.

New this year is a booth for local organizations, studios and artists that teach in the clay field to distribute their information. We hope this will offer the public a larger picture of the opportunities and classes available locally.

Santa Cruz Clay 2012 will present over 20 booths spread out in front of the Bargetto Winery and inside the lovely courtyard. Wine tasting will be available.
